Cool Well just got back from the vets and first time I have met our new one and have to say he has restored my faith in vets!..What a great guy and really seems keen, optimistic and thinks we can stay on top of things..basically its quite advanced now and so arthritis is setting in(at 3!) but he is going to try a course of injections and keep him on the tramadol for pain relief at present..the disease cannot be reversed but will run its course. He went in too lots more details but started to get a bit much to take in but he is confident we can keep him comfortable although he did say there will be painfull times ahead for him!..Felt much better after seeing him and he answered all our questions and some...like to thank everyone for their kind words,pm's etc much appreciated all.. Very Happy Cool

Ah rheumatology my speciality - with people there is so much you can do to slow down the progression of the disease, Stuart - its worth asking if they can do this for dogs too Wink . I am pleased that at least there is a positiveness coming from your vet.

Angi the vet was saying once it has run its course in the affected area then that will be that..to slow it down will increase the time he suffers for..He went in to much more detail but wouldnt begin to try and type out what he said here..lol Laughing

nice one! Ive seen dogs which have lead real quality lives whilst undergoing treatment for arthritis - there are good days and bad days, but it normally turns out that the animal does very well... Ive even seen cases where treatment is only really needed in the winter.

So what injections is he getting?
