What do you mean? How long...? |
How long does it take for them to completely cover a tree? time wise, days, weeks, months. - just curious. |

Well.. The larvae hatches about when the treeīs leafīs opening up.. And they start eating right away. The clutches are about 60 eggs and there can be many, many clutches. In about 2-3 weeks the trees look like the ones on the picīs.. _________________ *** Miqe ***

So do mine.. But Iīm not sure if bird cherry (Prunus padus), is toxic or not.. So, I have not tried to feed my animals with the caterpillars. _________________ *** Miqe ***

The fruits are certainly not toxic as they are edible to both humans and animals as for the foilage, I could find no information on that at all.

Then I will try next year.. to take both good pictures and caterpillars. If the phenomena occurs again. It is very different from year to year.. _________________ *** Miqe ***

Thanks for the info Morbid 2-3 weeks is not a great deal of time to cover a tree really - quite fascinating. |
