Hi, The pygs are native to Tanzania. Finding the eggs is a matter off digging about in the corners when you notice that one female isnt a fatty anymore. they tend to lay in the same spots- back corner at the base of a plant.I have sat and watched them lay and it looks totally exhausting- they dig a huge hole- that takes ages, then they can take a hour or more to lay, then they cover up so well you cant even tell where shes laid.

The Pygs dont like it hot, in fact anything over 82F can be fatal. The temp in my adults tanks is 72F 22C.When we had the very hot weather recently I had a huge floor fan in the room plus each adult tank has its own mini fan. They dont bask as such, but do have the benefit of a low wattage halogen desk lamp shining through the mesh at one end of the tank, they all congregate at this end first thing in the morning.
They are just brilliant little things especially when they get an insect on their backs and dislodge it by buzzing and vibrating- like a mobile phone!!! The one down side is they only live about 3 years, but breed readily at about 3-4 months and can produce 3-4 clutches a year.
