The spectres are now twice the size they were two weeks ago when I was given them Shocked Anyone know how old they need to be b4 they can breed please?

I have noticed when I pick up their jar that they shiver for about ten seconds, then start swaying. Probably a defensive move to appear as leaves in the breeze?

Am well taken with them, what a stunning insect to keep, cheap and cheerful! Free food in the hedge rows! I doubt though that they would make a good livefood as they are covered in little prickles. Unless anyone knows any different?

But a terrific insect to observe Very Happy

i have posted some other info on the leaf insect topic but just so you know the nymphs will take around 3 -6 months to mature, females taking longer (will go through 6 moults before maturing, compared to 5 for the males) egg laying will start about a month after the famales mature and lay lots and lots of eggs which take 5 - 8 months to hatch
