Plain Yogurt you say? And what if he doesnt take that. lol. I have ordered wax worms. Just to give him more of a boost of eating, Dont worry, I wotn use these as a staple diet.
Also, Should I use the Repti Glo Strip Light? Do you personally Shanna? And is just a heat mat suitable for heating. I was wondering of getting one of the moonlight (...lights) But if this is not necassary, i will not bother. As we are kind of low on money at the minute.

Quick and easy answers to some of your questions ....
1. I don't use UVB or UVA. I did (and do) occasionally if I need to create quick set ups for rescues, but I use human heating pads or UTHs for all my snakes, leos and cresties. I toss a UVB light on the cresties that I only turn on for a few hours a day in the evening before I go to bed, so they get some UVB rays. I have also used UVB on leos when they are rescues and have MBD in early stages or in spring to give them a burst of color. I do find that UVB gives them a nice, bright color look and they seem to be a lil more active after an hour or two of UVB light. However, I never use UVA or UVB on any of my albinos. I can only imagine how much it must burn the retna - the moment my soft GE lights go on when the timers go off, the albinos scatter and even the normal morphs scatter and squint. They could be scattering from me or being startled, but if I turn red lights on, they all come out, and once they get adjusted to the regular light, they creep back out and will climb all over my hand, arm, etc. So I don't think my adults are startled or scared of me EVERY single night! ha ha Last, I do use UVA when taking pictures and of course, for the dragons and cham.
2. If he won't lick the yogurt (get acidophilus if you can) off his nose, then I suggest injecting a silkworm, superworm or waxworm (whatever he will take) with a tiny bit. I have worked with many rescues, and to be honest, I have only had to force feed once. I say force feed when I talk, but 99.9% of the time force feed means drop on end of nose and let lick off. ha ha Maybe I should start calling it hand feed and force feed when I mean FORCE feed?!
3. I have attached a few pics for you. Some are not the way they are now, some are. I have some 20Ls, some 2x2x4 ft dragon tanks and some 30 gallon tanks. All are now lined with the white shelfliner you see in the dragon tanks which house my two adult males and are stacked.
I am sorry I have rattled on so long. Hope all is well!

Thank you Very much Shanna. All your help is much appreciated. So a Infared or Blue moon light will work ok instead of a Strip?
And He must of liked the yogurt, as he head is popped up over the edge I had to put a little on his lips to get him used to licking, but other then that, he started to lick outwards instead of his lips and onto the end of the spoon i used. So hopefully, the yogurt would of boosted his up.
I had to show him what to do first aswell, and the yogurt is horrible |

Not for a heat source, no. You can use a UTH and turn on the red or blue light to view him, but I do not recommend using infared lights as heat sources. They can be used in small wattage as a night time warmer, but when you get into the higher wattage bulbs - like 75 or 100 and beyond - they have been known to burn animals very easily.
Glad he ate some yogurt - just make sure not to do too much at all. Only need a tad to rebuild gut flora. _________________ *Yes, I am the chick in the pic!" ;) |

He's going better, alot more active. Hes out and about at later times, which is normal - nocturnal. What i done was dip some mealies in the yogurt, and rub around his mouth and he ate too. I didnt want to go over board with them. As its better to work your way up instead of feeding them a load at once.
Thanx Shanna, Your a Star |

Great News, HES EATING I let the crickets loose for once (Stupid I know) And he ate like half a dozen, then i placed the mealworms down, let them run about, 1 at a time, and he was total loving it. What a beast when he wants to be i tell you!
So he has had about 12 Mealworms and 6 Crickets? All of which are dusted. I will be ordering some waxworms, just to fatten him up a little again
I think the problem was the bowl. he couldnt actually get to them, so what im going to do is just let them loose, liek yoru supposed too. Sorry, I have wasted all your time of my stupidness. Thank you all very much for your time and effort and help. Much much appreciated |
