I have a bag of peat in my reptile room, most of it used up,about 3 inches left, their is a hole in the side of the bag about ground level. When ever I've have snakes escape, I always find them their. |
lol....sounds like a regular occurance Pete? |
No, but it has happened, it's always their just in case. |

Well Done for finding him/her. I lost my no larger then 10" milksnake about a week or two after i got it. I went to college the morning, and i have no idea, but when i got back (lunch time -1ish) i came to check on him, and his vivarium was slightly open like yours. I thought it was me from the night before, but im sure it wasnt, n that he pushed it open. But from this day on, i dont no how he done it. So yeah, I shat it basicly. lol. Everything on my room, was checked, bed first, then emptying boxs out, put on bed. So i rung my mum, coz i was in the house on my own (good job really ) and told her about it, She wasnt very amused. But while i was on the fone, i checked the room next to mine, its a sliding door on it. So i had to open it to get in, and close it to make sure he didnt get out. But when i was closing it, i seen something in the corner of my eye.
As Milksnakes are luckily very brigh and colorfull. I spotted him, before chopping him in half. I would have some much guilt on me if i did, But luckily i didnt. So yeah, he was wedged inbetween the sliding door. Luckily i didnt open while he was init. But just because the door was closed, didnt mean he couldnt get under it (Not just sliding!) My door was closed and managed to get out.
Good Job My Cat was out eh So thats my story, and now you can tell this story, look back and laf, but oh boy, trust me, You dont laf when its happening to you at the time ;p |

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can't believe the snake has gone again.
I even fitted a lock on the Viv and its still disapered, the only way I can see is via the two pieces of glass, the gap betweeen each piece on the runner.
We have checked everywhere apart from upstairs, so its a case of wait out. We have only just finished repairing what we took apart from the other day.

Hi Sy,
One more suggestion put down some screwed up paper along the skirting boards, behind furniture etc - grease proof is good because it's noisy. The only time our king snake got out (before we got a lock!) I heard a rustling among some paper shopping bags shoved in the corner of the bedroom. You may think you won't hear it but it's amazing what your ears pick up especially out of the ordinary noises and of course the snake will probably investigate the paper as a potential hide and make a nice rustle for you to detect. I know all dogs are different, but if it's any consolation my 2 mutts don't pay any attention to the snake as we have him out and about most days so hopefully your dog won't pose a threat.
Good Luckx |

Where did it turn up this time? Seems the luck is catching - the first hognose hatchling I ever bought escaped last year - the dog just dug him out of a flower pot in the garden _________________ -Hannah- |
