Thank you for the kind words. As you corrected yourself, they are indeed blackthroats.

As babies/juveniles, whitethroat monitors will generally have a dark/black throat, resembling that of which blackthroat monitors have. There pattern is clearly distinct, and easy to tell between the two if you know what your looking for. Whitethroats will generally have more of white/black coloration to them, while blackthroats have slight hints of black, with mostly grey/yellow/orange. Blackthroats usually get a bit larger as well. Here are a couple head shots. First two are blackthroats, next two are whitethroats.

Hope that helped..

Adrian

wow great beats, a mate has 3 black throats and has 2 eggs in the incubator (only 4 were laid as a first clutch) they are now 4 months onto incubation whats the normal time frame? Also he thinks the girl is due again soon as well!

Incubation, in general, for the V. Albigularis species takes about 150 days for incubation.. (that seems to be the average)

But only 4 eggs? That doesn't seem right. Albigularis lay large clutches, and can lay up to 22 (and possibly more) eggs or so, depending on the female. Perhaps the other eggs were eaten maybe?
