Scott; don't forget those chameleons that look like they've been dipped in bleach...At least it should be easy to think of names: I quite like 'Harpic' myself...pmsl....

Rick, good luck with these. I kept some years ago, never got them to breed though. Do you know if they are bred often?

I read somewhere that the diet of Varanus exanth. in the wild is 90%+ giant millipedes and Giant African Land Snails. If they were productive enough they might make a good feeder for my tegus....

Mark.

Well they have been mating as u can see in a couple of the pics, apparently the trick is to keep the substrate slightly moist , heat from above not below, as the larvae develop in the substrate and that's where the eggs are laid. Sexual activity in adulthood consists of only a small part of their lives. Most of their lives are spent as larvae foraging around eating bits and bobs in the substrate, this process in turn helps recycle dead wood leaves etc.

No reason why they should not be prolific breeders. Very Happy

They be awesome! Here are some pics at feeding time. Thye range at the mo from 6 inches up to 9 max is about ten inches they are all thicker than my thumb! Very dark brown with oragne banding around segments joints and deep red colour legs. The feeding tub is 4x3 inches so u can get perspective on size.
