Would the neonate in the 'guess what it is' thread be yours as well then? And can I have it Laughing Anyway, back on topic, I think that is further proof that different people do things different ways and with a 100% success rate you really can't complain too much Wink I know some people sprinkle a dry layer of vermiculite over the top of the damp stuff for much the same reason.

Anyone actually put a bowl of water inside their actual incubator to keep the humidity up? I know that too much humidity can be as bad if not worse for the eggs than not enough.

I love it when you get all aggressive hun Embarassed
If it keeps you happy you can have the baby in the egg then Laughing
Its not mine though but I'm sure the owner will give you whatever you want after fighting talk like that Wink

Hi,

I've never used foot powder but on leo eggs I have used gentian violet solution to control mold. It didn't seem to harm the eggs but then again I also have no idea if the fungus would have hurt them either as I never let one go without treating it.

What are your feelings on cutting out the bad egg ( cutting around the points it is attatched to the good eggs ) as that shouldn't damage the good egg at all - or will it?

I have never had to do this yet but the eggs I had go bad last time ( slugs I tried anyway) stank to high heaven. Is there anything that can be done about the smell if the egg is better left in place?

here's another clutch with a bad egg attached, again you can clearly see that it's had no effect on the surrounding good eggs.

Scott, the egg in question went off after some time in the incubator. Judging from its appearance I would have guessed that, when laid, it was probably fertile. If that was the case, what are the typical reasons for a viable egg to fail?.

I generally feel that most good eggs die off due to too much moisture, basically drowing the embryo inside. I have lost almost no eggs due to the substrate being too dry but do think I've lost more than my fair share due to too much moisture.

Not too sure why it would be only one in a clutch but perhaps that was already weak or developing in a different position or more prone to absorbing the water.

Incidently all my clutches I have set up recently have been on much dryer vermiculite, including your clutch from yesterday Wink (although sadly I couldn't be arse'd to mess about with your special plastic grid Embarassed Laughing )
