Ill give that a go. Only thing is it doesn't seem to like going through tight spaces. If it does go in its just sits there.Soon as its eye caps come off ill be a happy man. |

you can carefully remove it with a wet cotton bud, but to be honest i have never tried that, and i think you would need to be very very carefull, and have good eyesight to do it. _________________

I know it doesn't resolve the issue now with getting the eye cap off, but if you haven't got one already, invest in a Thermo-hygrometer Deluxe made by Lucky reptile. It measures temperatures in two areas inside your enclosure (i.e. the warm hide and an ambient temperature) and also measures humidity. Totally digital. Ever since i've had one, i've been able to make sure humidity is bang on and never had anything other than complete sheds (touch wood).
Good luck

Well its the first shed with me but to be honest it caught me off guard. I fed it and then left it as i usually do for 2days just change its water. Its always hiding so i try not to handle or mess with it. When i did look it was cloudy so i put in some damp moss. The next day it went clear and the day after it shed. My only other snake is a corn snake which the whole shed process takes over a week. It caught me off guard. Ill have to be more alert with it. As of now its all off except its right eye cap.Ill keep you posted on it. Also i think i may invest in a humidity gauge. I do have a 2 probed thermometer at the moment i i don't trust those little stick on ones. |

higgy, i have corns, royals, a hoggy, boa and rat snake. now shoot me everyone, but i dont measure humidity. i write in thier wee books when they each shed, then i have a rough idea o when the next one will be. when its due they gety a moss box put in, and sprayed once or twice a day. everyone sheds perfectly.
the corns even come out the hides to be sprayed, they love it. so dont worry. i used to worry about everything, and found i wasnt having quality time with my snakes because of it. so now i do what works for me. and them of course.
next time all you have to do is, give him a moss box, a wee spray once a day, and shove his water bowl up the hot end. _________________

Well with my corn i do exactly as you have suggested and its never had a bad shed. Full every time. I'm just going to be more observant with the royal and definitely upping the humidity. I don't have any humidity gauges either Lynne. But thanks for all the help. It looks as tho the eye cap is going to come off ass the skin is peeling just in front of the eyes. Many thanks Lynne i hope you don't mind if i bother you again with any questions i have. Paul |

the only reservations I would have on this, is that you should really keep an eye on accurate measurements of humidity, especially with Boas and Royals. Too little humidity can contribute to RI's as well as too much. I maintain between 40 and 60% at all times except when they come up for shed, then I may raise it just a little extra.
Remember that the main aim to to create a natural environment for them with regards to temps and humidity.
Just thought i'd offer that. _________________ "When i'm a big boy I wanna avatar like Johonny. lmao and rofl" |
