You are correct, there are only a handful of collectors in Europe with pure lines of Central American Boas. (there are also not that many in the US either but many more are starting to collect them now). They also have smaller clutches than the larger Colombian Boas so they are harder to find ... having said that, I have 1.3 available at the moment ... I'll post them in the classifieds shortly.
Just for interest sake, here is a pure Nicaraguan Ghost we produced last year ( Hypo x Type 1 Anery)

Hi John,
Welcome to the site. They're a great couple of snakes you've posted up. There seems to be a lot of the big time ball breeders building up numbers of these boas now...are they all chasing the next big 'thing'??

Hey Scott, I don't know about the "next big thing", however I do see many of the larger breeders getting more diversified. I think several of them have gone for Central American Boas as there are so many new morphs - T+, Bloods, Hypo, Super Hypo, Motley, Super Motley, Leopard, Anery Type 1 & Type 2, etc. Plus there are many different locality morphs for instance you get hypos from Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, etc that are all very different.
All of these colorful genes allow for some stunning small Boa designer morphs (like my Ghosts), and unlike the larger Boas, most haven't even been produced yet so its still very early in the CA Boa breeding market.
On the other hand, many of the European breeders like "locality" boas, well the CA boa market brings a whole host of those as well ... thus the market for these guys is very interesting !
When you ready for some give me a call
cheers, John _________________ John Berry

i quite like that colour, big plus point is the smaller size, which means its easier to house, heat, and handle, as well as being cheaper to feed (smaller prey), and you dont need a shovel to clean it out! , minus point is the cost £400 MINIMUM is expensive! although in fairness to jb, it is not a common type and probably not easy to acquire, and setting up a breeding programme as well as the necessary quarantine procedures to contend with from presumably wild caught original stock would be cost incurring and time consuming. _________________ we all have the spark of divinity within us, but are we responsible enough to use it? |

£400 isn't half as bad as what I thought they'd be going for and is nothing compared to some of the royal morphs. If I had the room I'd deffo consider them as they really are very pretty snakes. |
