Hi Diamond
He's a beauty!, is he a Opal Rex?. I know what you mean about house rabbits causing havoc, but they are totally worth it. Lucky you having such a handsome bunny. |

Yep he's a Rex, and has a great character and he rules our house. He loves to sleep on the bed, or the stairs or the sofa, in fact he sleeps any where no matter how awkward it makes things. He also eats loads, we only feed him fresh food, fruit and veg, no dry stuff at all and in a week he goes through a couple of bags of carrots half a dozen apples, 3 bags of greens and any other tasty treats we find in the green grocer for him. I just can't imagine how much a giant rabbit is gonna pack away.
You must keep us up to date with pictures to see how much your girl grows. |

Surely you feed hay for roughage though?
I've got a 'wild' rabbit. Never tamed, stressed out in his hutch so in the summer, we just let him go round the garden (its all closed off fab) and left the garage open a crack with hutches to go into, and more stuff than you can imagine to hide behind. Done it for more than a year now. Its tamer than it was when it was kept in the hutch now and reguarly comes up to us.
Obviously along with grass, it gets hay, alfafa every now and then, dried food, big huge bowl of water obviously and bread/toast (toast helps wear their teeth down a little) along with fresh veg and some fruit.
Suprising how well its done really. Seems happier than it ever was in the hutch. _________________ x.Jessie.x

He has hay but doesn't really like it, he leaves it and i throw most of it away, but he loves straw and likes it in his litter tray so he can have a nibble as he's doing his business. |

Yes you can to an extent. Harriet has her own enclosed litter box filled daily with fresh hay and lined with newspaper, she uses this as her toilet and never goes anywhere else. The litter box is situated in her enclosure which is a extremely large dog cage. She has free run of our home which has been rabbit proofed because rabbits like to chew anything, furniture electric cables etc. We supervise her when she out and about and provide toys and chews to keep her occupied. Rabbits can be very naughty, eat you out of house and home but I still say they make fantastic pets. Harriet likes nothing better than cuddling up on the sofa with me and will happily play with our three cats for hours. |
