The bottom third of the enclosure isn't visible in that photo (didn't have a wide enough angle lens). There are four huge hollow logs scattered around, resting on leaf litter.
Sometimes they retreat to the logs at night, sometimes they choose to sleep out in the open. The male used to be the only one that would sleep out in the open, the female clambering down from the 'cliff' down into a log seconds before the lights went out - she adapted really quickly to the timer, even when I made adjustments for daylight savings. Over the years, though, as she gets bolder she has slept out in the open more often. Their 'favourite' logs change, too. The female's current favourite is visible on the far lower left of the enclosure, because it's wedged up vertically. |
