I usually set the surface temp of heatmat outside the hide at about 87/88/90f
so inside the hide it will be a little warmer.
the ones I am breeding I drop to 80f at night.
Different people do it different, I only wanted to make point about a cool safety zone

and naturally i take it your probe is underneath the tub, so that if their water gets knocked over, the temp doesn't rocket yeah?
What thermostat have you got and what temp is it set at to get the right temp inside the tub? |

pic is of probe running from a pulse thermostat, carefully taped to the heatmat so cannot fall off. I use 4 thermostats for my current setup and they are all set differently. _________________ Check out my albino royal python website! |

Stats can malfunction while leaving all the current going through the adaptor to the plug, that would make the tbu overheat and burn the snakey.
Always have a cool end like mike said.
pulse prop are the best for mats. _________________ MORE THAN 2! |

I'm with Mike on this one - simply put, if you have a hot spot of greater than 90 degrees it doesn't matter how cold the cold end is! In fact, the larger the gradient the better it is for the snake. Also, I like to use the Microclimate thermostats (as opposed to the Habistat) which have a simple night time drop facility and built in alarm. |

In other forums i've read that any temp under 80f can induce RI's etc. I use the lucky reptile thermostats, very accurate. I find the habistat one's a bit inaccurate for warm ends. |

So what are people averaging as a cold end temperature?
Doesn't it affect your snake feeding when you have a cold end too cold. |

Why would it?
The snake will know its too cold and it will move to the hot end to digest, I have a hot end of 92f and a cool end of 80f. _________________ MORE THAN 2! |
