Congratulations Ron Brilliant news
I aquired 2.2 of these earlier this year, the two males and one female are LTC 3years imported into the UK from Japan and the other female is CB from Russia. The CB female laid 7 infertile eggs this year and the LTC one although I felt eggs/follicles she never produced anything ... so was wondering about hibernation ... Do you hibernate your Rhino's and if so what temperature do you take them down to and for how long ?

Hi Sue,
I would be interested in some babies if you do manage to breed them. Would be nice to have unrelated animals.
I know Schulz cools his animals to 13C for 2 months, so a real hibernation. I actually didn't do that this year, because of the problems I had last year. All I did is switch off the light and heat for about 2 months and leave them at room temp, 17-20C. I will be cooling them at lower temps this year if I can find a place @ around 15C somewhere in the house. So yes, they do need a real rest period in winter, about 2 months and somewhere between 13 and 18C.
Good luck
Ron |

Thanks Al
Maybe perseverance is a better word in this case, I'm not that patient, but I don't give up easily
And these snakes are worth it. |
