Thanks for all your kind comments everybody, very much appreciated. Very Happy Whilst I have always known that the eggs can be incubated successfully at room temperature I have personally never not used an incubator for any reptile eggs and I guess I just felt nervous at the thought of not doing so and preferred the idea of keeping with what I know! Rolling Eyes

That, and the fact that the complete Rhacodactylus guide book by de Vosjoli, Fast and Repashy refers to incubation temps up to 82F being ok, made me confident that keeping the incubator at around 79-80F would be fine, as like Jackie I have had to 'share' the incubator I am using with eggs of other species which needed slightly higher temps than the crested gecko eggs may have preferred or benefitted from.

The babies (plural as the clutch mate has now hatched, more of that in a minute Wink ) seem to be exceptionally strong and healthy and very very active, so I am not at all concerned about the short incubation period in that regard. I guess the only downside is that there may be an increased chance that I am going to produce more males at this temp, which is something I would definitely not choose to do! Wink

Anyway, as I said both of the first pair of eggs from the adults in the picture have hatched and the second baby is even more gorgeous than the first! First of all here's baby no. 1 after its post-hatch shed...

Pretty sexy I hope you'll agree?? Wink But here is baby no. 2.....

I am SO chuffed with the both of them, but baby no. 2 is one of the best I've ever seen, and even though I've never had any of my own before these I have seen my fair share of friends' babies! Rolling Eyes They are both showing lots of dalmatian spots too which I am well pleased about. Very Happy

Here they are together, with baby 2 on the right:

This is the second of my two females whose first egg (laid early Aug) is still incubating at present, she only laid a single unfortunately but is certainly carrying a pair this time Very Happy :

Also, I have now switched the male that was mated with the two females with a new one, and if the previous pairing was able to produce such gorgeous babies as these I am really looking forward to seeing the offspring that this male puts his sperm to. Wink

Stumpy may be tailless but he is one sexy gecko and kicks the arse of the other male appearance-wise (but I like them both equally other than this!) These shots are taken in non-fired up colours and when fully fired up he is dark chocolate brown and gold, the contrast really is absolutely stunning... Wink

Sorry for the length of this post, I just couldn't stop myself once I'd got going... I am collecting another new crestie tomorrow, this one is easily the spottiest dalmatian I have ever seen and once he's home you can be sure I'll be proudly displaying some pics of him/her right here. Wink

Not a chance Roy! Wink Maybe later babies than these but not my first couple, I guess that's kind of a tradition I've always had with all the species I've bred in the past! Rolling Eyes Nice ones though eh? Very Happy

They are real nice but lets hope they stay that colour, there is no garentee.
And they are all red to a degree when hatchling.
