You don't NEED a substrate at all Aidan, they can do fine with nothing. |

erpp this is where it gets a little confusing.
totally understand the night time temp drop thats fine.
the substrate issue is particuarly confusing with all the various reports from everyone though, as is the heat mat being placed on top of the sand, surely it would be better in a layer of substrate which it heats up?
thermostat is on the list ready to order |

Put the mat down first, then the probe over the mat, if your going to cover it with a layer of sand, put the probe on top of the sand.
Then calibrate the stat so your getting 90F. It is essential that you have this temp on the ground at the warm side of the viv. Use a digital thermometer for reliable accuracy. _________________ Kind Regards,

No offence Aidan but sometimes you're posts are very hard to understand please spell check and more importantly read back over what you have written before you post as over the internet it is very easy for what you say to be taken the wrong way and it will seem like you are giving bad advice. |

Well almost understood... No need to put sand under the mat, in fact its probably best to tape the edges of the mat down so it deffo stays where you want it to be. _________________ Kind Regards,
