besides cropping how do you get them to fill the frame? i was toying with the idea of extension tubes for my macro work, but really don't think that will help too much, i think it will just make it harder to focus and hand hold the camera. what do you think?

Unless you have a large enough subject to fill the frame then there isn't much you can do other than crop or use tubes..tubes equal less light though...and a tripod really is a must with macro..
