They are about as venomous as a bee or wasp, but as they are rear fanged, i.e. the fangs are near the back of the mouth, and the snakes stay fairly small, they are not considered dangerous at all. The fangs are used in the wild to pop inflated toads, their fave. food item. There is a thought that it is from the toads that the venom mainly comes and therefore a Hog fed on rodents has VERY little venom. Also to be bitten the owner would have to allow the snake to chew on them to get the fangs into position. Well, if you allow a snake to chew on you, daft or what...!!! Rolling Eyes Shocked My three Hoggies are all very laid back and sweet. Babies are a bit stroppy, but then they are too small to get their mouths into position anyway, and they soon grow out of it to become lovely, interesting snakes.

The photo is lovely, clean crisp colours, a real beaut. Very Happy

Cheers Sue, borrowed my b/f camera for the pics as it's better than mine! Very Happy I love the markings that Hoggies have but I guess I'm biased
