basically i really want a snake, but my mum and my two sisters are very squimish and will probably not be able to cope with mice in the freezer.
this led me down the path of the African egg eating snake.
can anyone give me some useful info on these snakes.
also i can only seem to find WC specimens and wondered what specific problems with AEE snakes this would entail.

otherwise i guess its gonna be a cresty, as long as i get one of the two in still happy. Wink

Just store the mice in a freezer box marked "The Snake's Dinner"!!!

Sometimes there's more rats and mice in my freezer than there is food for us (definition of a snake lover Wink )

Every freezer should contain the following

Rats

Mice -various sizes

Curry -for when you cant be bothered cooking

A bottle of white wine ....just chilling

How about one of these (Crimson Cornsnake)

He's grown a lot since this pic was taken

Or this lovely Snow Corn (also grown a lot since pic taken)

and who could resist this cheeky face (My Californian Kingsnake)

Although I've got Boas and Pythons, I'd definitely recommend either a Cornsnake or a Kingsnake for your first snake. Generally, they tend to be very good feeders where Royal Pythons, although often recommended as first snakes can be very fussy eaters, so I would not recommend one of these as a first snake. Boa Constrictors are great snakes but again, I wouldn't recommend one as a first snake because they grow to a large size very quickly. We got ours as hatchlings 18 months ago and they are both over 5ft long already.

Cornsnakes come in so many different colours and they tend to be very good natured and easily handled.

Here is Jake the Snake. I rescued him back in the summer. He's a gorgeous colour.

Cornsnake or a Kingsnake is a really good choice for you.

If you want the details of the breeder who bred the Crimson and the Snow, PM me.

thanks for the help.
i was going to get a king snake until i saw some really fascinating sand boas on the stocklist at a local reptile shop. (one thats been hiding right under my nose 5 miles away) Laughing
only just found out about it three days ago, meant to be really good.
male sand boas only grow to an average of 15 inches, tiny little things.
so just trying to find out abit about these before i decide.

We have corns, I know some sand boas and kings and can recommend all of them hon. The sand boas like to hide a lot whereas corns and kings can be right show off's. If I was starting out I'd go for the corns myself, theres some beautiful morphs around and they really are a people snake xxxx
