Just go back from chasing critters in Arizona for 10 days.

I'll get the images sorted and post a few.

I think those into Venomous will really enjoy them

I'll download the images today (Saturday) and try and upload a good few on Sunday.

It's a mammoth task as I filled FOUR 2GB cards!!!

I've only looked briefly at the images but hope they are as good as i want.

I'll be doing a few talks on Arizona around the circuit if they are any good.

New Camera and new lens set up should be interesting.

Crotalus atrox

Western Diamondback Rattlesnake

This is the first of the large Rattlers we found.

We photographed 11 species of rattlesnake in 10 days....not bad for the fall

Nikon's new 18-200 VR.

I bought it for the trip so I could cut the amount of gear carried and so I could take all my gear on the plane rather than in the hold.

One D200 body + 18-200VR + 105mm macro + bean bag.

Not ideal but it worked.

Although the 18-200 is a great lens I'm not convinced Vibration reduction facilities on lenses are worth any extra money.

I used flash set on rear curtain and under exposed flash -1.

Yep the 18-200 certainly lightens your load as long as you have good light..although the vr will help as well. The lens certainly gets good reviews..I nearly went for the nikon 105mm vr macro but after lots of reading and talking to people I came to the conclusion the tamron 90mm would suffice with more or less equal optics but slower af..and the vr is of little use during macro use anyhow. The tamron is a cracking lens!
Back on track I'm looking forward to seeing more pics.. Cool

mine is the basic 105mm.........no VR stuff.

good lens though I prefer the Nikon 60mm macro.........dodgy on venomous....though I have used it on Black Mamba..........boy did i sweat!!!!!!!!!!
