I thought the exo-terra plants that come with suckers were good but a bit expensive so decided to make my own! Very Happy
Ebay is a wonderful place! Wink

I used:
1x small cable tie = £0.01 (£1 for pack of 100)
1x suction pad = £0.13 (£3 for pack of 24 inc. hooks)
1x material vine = £2/£3 (£5 for 1 medium + 1 large)

Slapped 'em together and VOILA!!! Works out at just over £2 for a medium "suckered" plant and £3 for a large one, which is much cheaper than I have found them for in the shops! Very Happy
I've even taken photo's to make myself feel like a real DIY pro! Shocked Embarassed Laughing lol

Well done, when you have got quite a few vivs to fill up with fake plants it works out expensive great idea and very creative.

I tell you what I did see the other day that impressed me quite a bit. On a visit to a chameleon breeders house; in the cham vivs he had rolled up some plastic fencing, the stuff with big square holes, into a tube, probably secured together with cut down cable ties. Placed the roll upright in the corner of the viv and entwined fake plants through the square holes. Looked very good and provided a climbing frame for the chams.

Different gauge plastic netting / fencing roll is available so the idea could be adapted for a wide range of herps that like to climb or hide. Or indeed taking it one step further, I find the plastic suckers on the fake plants never stick properly after awhile. You could make a back drop out of the plastic roll any shape you like and fix plants to it etc. I would imagine you could even grow some live plants on it trellis styley, such as a dwarf vine?

Great idea, I'm on the look out for loads fake plants on the cheap, but even the ones on eBay are a bit pricey lately - I must be doing the search wrong Embarassed shall keep looking.

What I've done before rather than suckers, is drilled large enough holes in secure branches and popped the thick chunky bit in through there.

What did you search for on ebay to bring up the 'material vine'?

Thanks
