Anyone using automatic watering with their rodents?
Any recommendations for sourcing drinking valves etc?
Loads of US sources on the net but few in the UK.
Cheers

I'm sure NKP does them, all my contact details for them are out of date though.
I have a load of aquariam hose that I was going to plumb in to create my own system, not yet had the time though (been sitting there 3 months now ). I am a bit worried of flooding though, heard of quite a few disasters using AW systems. _________________

NKP are located locally, will give them a call this afternoon.
I know what you mean regarding flooding. I know some labs now recommend "plastic enrichment" devices which will float in the event of a stuck valve.
I think the benefits for me will outweigh the occasional "flooded" cage though.

Paid them a visit, really friendly.
I have ordered nozzles etc from Agselect.com, a saving of around 75% even with shipping and import tax. For the 50 nozzle system I am making that is a saving of nearly £700!!!
Cheers

I have come across two suppliers in the UK (after lengthy net searches), specifically designed for Chinchillas. Cost is about the same as the Edstrom variflow system I have gone for, around £2.00 per valve.
From what I have found on the net the Edstrom valves are very highly regarded.
You need a water container and connections, I have decided to get these separately. The flexi hose, about 30-40p/m and T connectors and valve clips to fix the valves to the cage. Getting them from Agselect/Edstrom or the UK the costs are similar. Obviously you will need to fix the tube to the rack as well. Cost looking around £3.50-£4.00 per cage total(depends on exactly how much duty I have to pay). As opposed to the £17+ for the lab system. Should give you an idea of cost Scott. Will be able to give you firmer prices once it arrives. Should be sent next week!
My rack is homemade and is like the freedom breeder racks, ie the mesh of the rack is the top of the cage, so fixing the valves isn't an issue. On lab cages you need to drill a hole in the box (reinforce it with a stainless washer) and fix the valve to the rack, the valve then protrudes into the cage when slid into the rack. This stops the need of having to disconnect the valve every time you remove the cage from the rack.
Cheers

Here is the rack with watering system connected. I haven't decided how I'm going to attach the MB1 cages yet, so only the "litter tray" cages are automatic!
Not all of the cages are populated but it won't be long.
Is working well. I am wondering which pastel shade will be most productive!
With tax worked out at £4 per cage(for the watering system, that is!).
Cheers

looking good Mark, I reckon yellow will produce the most
With the MB1's would the noozle just fit in the current hole, then you just pull it out when taking cage out? What reasons would that not work? (that was what I was going to try) _________________
