Hi
I was wondering if anyone here keeps these. I have one and i love him to bits hes called Gerald i cant tell if hes male or female tho but i guess maybe hes male lol. I asked a chap in a shop today why i don't see them anywhere and he said because nobody breeds them because they are disposable this made me really sad!. Ive tried looking for information on them but its a bit limited, so i wanted to chat to someone who actually keeps them to see whats the best way to keep him happy is . |

Hi,
I have kept moorish geckos in the past. I had them in a rocky habitat with sandy substrate and lots of large rocks. Sprayed them occasionally and fed them normal insect diet.
Very easy to keep, no uv needed, they can be quite aggressive to each other.
Good luck tracking down any breeders, I'm sure there are a few people but I don't know any. _________________

I have a pair not sure what sex they are though, very hard to tell and yes information is certainly lacking.
I keep them just like what Scott has said really. Plenty of rocks to hide under, play sand substrate.
Mine are great to feed and not fussy in the slightest food wise, they're called Quaver and Frazzle!! lol |

Tarentola???? I used to keep em got loads of eggs, very delicate they are too! great thing is u incubate em on dry medium!!! I found if they were well fed with access to food at all times, even just mealies in a tub I never had any probs keeping large groups. _________________ 1.0 striped supersalmon DEAD

Pete, how did you determine the sex of yours? I'm finding very difficult.
Also, at what rate did they grow, mine are 2 years old and they look so diddy, about 4-5inches atm. Would love some babes at one point.
I found it odd to incubate on a dry substrate, what did you use? sand?
Did you ever off yours fruit Pete? I know most Geckos are insectivorous but it said some will lick/eat banana, strawberries etc
Nattyone, viv looks ok, maybe chose some flat stones for around the front so he's got more to clamber over, hide between.
Still got keen on the idea of them been disposable, they're too sweet |

yes i need to get some flat stones am sending OH to the shop to get some today , this is a new viv so its still a work in progress .
pete really interesting about the mealworms , i was told they wouldnt touch anything other than crickets so its good to know that mealies are ok to feed
Where abouts are you ? because id really love to get my gerald some company . Ill second what peaches says about the sexing i was given 2 methods of sexing but both involve comparing them to each other which is a bit hard when you only have one lol
Can we see a pic of your set up pete , its great to finally find other people who keep them I was told this week nobody breeds them because they are too cheap they may not be flashy or bright colours but they are fab in there own way . |
