Well just been out to local garden center and see in the pet section a "stop pull" harness made by HI-Craft..it was only £18 so thought we'd try it out as our dog is a nightmare on the lead at times..Looked really well made and nicely padded where it needed to be.Got it home and put it on him and said the deadly words "walkies" normally he is gone like a bullet but not this time..absolutely unbelievable!!!! went on our usual walk and it was heaven..by my side all the way round.Really pleased with it and highly recommend it.Here are a few snaps of him today..

certainly a nice looking dog Stu, although far too big for my house.
I'll wait and get my blue staffy eventually..................... _________________

Cheers rick..
Jim I agree 100% with you!..the breeder we got ours from said her males continued gaining weight up to around 3 years old so don't rush to get weight on them..As you say its all to easy to whack the weight on them early and shorten the lifespan of the dog eventually..we were told that ours looked very underweight for his age(14months) and have upped his food a little and he does look a lot better tbh..but I know someone with a 16 month old female that is 11 1/2 stone!!..to me that is silly as she will suffer badly when she is older. We have been giving him the occasional meal of green tripe and as you say you need a strong stomach to serve this up for breakfast!..I don't mind but the other half hates it..lol.. _________________

What's the harness called? Our male Akita is like a 10 stone bulldozer, we have Halti's which work but they rub his eyes and the harness looks much more user friendly. How does it work though, the shoulders are the dogs strongest point so much power there, is it the crossover design that does the trick?
Lovely pooch, and ditto remarks re slow growth is best will reach full maturity at 3 to 4 years - as we have discovered!!!! |

Cheers Bud..the harness is called a "stop pull" made by Hi-Craft..basically as soon as he pulls the harness tightens under his front legs and lifts slightly..really is good but still worth keeping an eye on the area where the straps go just incase it did start to rub on the underside, but seems well padded with neoprene though.. _________________
