I took in a little steno today, wild caught and hes as skinney as a rake. Poor little mite was just sitting there in the open and the owner of the shop said I can try my luck with him.

Ive got him home and hes not looking good. But knew that he was in a bad way and if he doesnt get some tlc hes definately going to die. Ive taken animals on as bad as him from Wiltons, pound lane and sadly I lost them all. 3 leopard geckos and I think they were too far gone to be saved when I got them. RIP Trixie, leo and Chloe

Ive got the steno in a cadburys box ( the plastic containers with holes drilled in the sides that baby snakes are kept in) little water bowl, and fine sand, little slab of corkbark to hide under and ceramic hide wedged into the sand. Poor little fellow has no fat on him and hes head muscle is sunken in and like I said is as skinney as a rake. Hes not moving around much but is still breathing.

Ive taken off the head of a waxworm and let him lick the juice of the waxworm and he has had a little bit. i then just put him back.

should I keep trying every couple of hours to get a much as possible down him or leave him to see if he pulls through the night?

Keep trying to let him lick some.
Have you tried tiny crickets ?
But i would suggest taking the cork bark out as crickets hide in it which is a pain Mad

To be honet Paul I dont think he has the energy to lift himself much. I think when reptiles have had enough they just give up and dont fight. He didnt lick at first and then i stroked hes back, it kinda propted him to get up and only then he licked.

I dont think hes in the state to catch crickets Crying or Very sad

do you think i should try again in a couple of hours to get more waxworm juice down him or leave him because of the stress risk?

You never know, how can you say that if you havent tried, always worth a try imho.
But yes keep trying him with the juice.

Yeh your'e right Paul. Reptiles have surprized me and proved me wrong on many occasions.

Will keep up with the waxworm juice.

Hi Kelly sorry to hear about the poor little guy, kinda glad it wasnt the one u had off me though if you know what i mean, Hope he perks up a bit and if u do want to try small grickets, put them in the fridge for a bit first, its slows them right down and may make it a little easier for him.

Erm, Just a note Dantro, i dont advise putting them in the fridge as it causes digestion problems, better off to nip the bad legs off Cool
