hi...just wondering if anyone could have a go at sexing my two panthers.
ive had different answers to this on other forums so i thought where better to ask than captive bred the home of rikeezee.lol
heres the bigger one of the two i have got...this one is growing alot faster than the other one they are in seperate enclosures.
and this is the smaller one, this has a reddy/brown colour to it.
these photos were taken a couple of weeks ago if these pictures arnt any good i can go take some more today if needed.
any help would be much appreciated. |

will take some more pictures tomorrow as they are just about to go to their bed lol
any ideas as to why the first one (if it is female) is soo much bigger than the other one?
i was thinking maybe it was because they were male and female.females being smaller.
how are you sexing them is it purely by colouration and pattern?
what are the differences?when do they start showing adult colouration?
these are around 3-4months old...when is it possible to sex by hemipenal bulges? |

At this age it is very hard to sex after the bulge cause they both seem to have one as the tail is getting stronger. Its clearer just after they hatched. Colouration ,espescially the red at the throat of the first one is a good sign for a female, but same here too,its only 100% in the first 4-6 weeks. After that, little males of morphs like Ambilobe and Diego get a red throat too sometimes. Im gona stick with my first bet though-two girls.. lets see some new pics tomorrow then.. |

Hi pardalis, im pretty shure you got two very, very nice little females.. Stunning father too,but no Blue Diamond... Blue Diamonds /turquoise blue/Ambato's don't show green colours. They got mainly yellow eys(sometimes red) and red or maroon coloured stripes on a blue background. Check this out (you have to log in for viewing pics):
