Last summer we spent a couple of weeks in South Africa. Wonderful country, beautiful scenery, easy to travel around in and just so many animals to see. Here are a couple of pics of that trip
Elephants are always amazing, especially if the herd gets to within 10m of your car
and rhino are not rare at all in the SA parcs
Did see a few reptiles species, despite it being winter
the only monitor
quite a few crocs though
Baobabs, one of my favorite trees
Baboons are common
as are meerkats, ballsy animals
checking for contraband

LOTS of lions
This one came out of the grass as I got out of the car. For some reason other tourists were motioning frantically I should get back into the car
sometitmes there were so many lions they caused a traffic jam
the fun part was that they were walking towards us, passing so close by the car I could have touched one if I had had the nerve to open the window
One actually leaned on the back of our car, much to the amusement of the kids
more carnivors, the hyena
and to complete the cast of the Lion King, here's Zazu
