Got myself a canon EOS 350D yesterday so i went practicing all day long Rolling Eyes. The results weren't that bad for a first day.

The Tribolonotus novaeguineae are doing great, saw some attempts to mate today! only the male was a bit rough to rough if you ask me. The female fell down the top of there vivarium down in to there water bowl. Stayed under for 5 a 10 minutes. So that was my signal to get her out of the water.

P.s I'm trying to start a studbook for T.novaeguineae. So I'm looking for everyone that keeps T.novaeguineae or is planning to keep them in the future. Or do you know someone that keeps them i would be glad to get in contact with them. you can find more information about the studbooks on www.studbooks.org It is from the European Studbook Federation

Hi Jordi,

I picked up two Tribolonotus at Hamm. I wasn't planning on it but couldn't resist! They were labelled as 1.1 WF Buschkrokodil (German), Papua New Guinea.

As they have bright orange rings around the eyes I'm assuming that they are T. gracilis. I haven't checked to see if they are a true pair yet...

I have them in a humid, planted terrarium with large water bowl and cork bark. Substrate is a mix of soil and bark chips, with a layer of moss on top. Temps around c. 90F to c. 75F. Water temp around 75F. Heating is from a red light bulb on a thermostat.

Any tips on temperatures and feeding etc? They really are cool little things!

Cheers,
Mark.

Hi Mark!

Congratulations with your new tribs! With the orange eye rings are indeed T.gracilis There really amazing animals so i hope you like them. Your vivarium sounds great, i would get the temperature a little bit down, between 75F en 84F. What worked for me in the first period is blindfold the vivarium (for the quarantine period) so they can't see anything that happens in the room. There quite stressful animals and it takes a while for them to get used to all the sounds. pff tips about feeding, here they like small snails very much and worms , don't feed to much mealworms because they would become very lazy then and won't hunt all the crickets Wink

If you have any questions left feel free the contact me at any time.

Jordi

Thanks Jordi,

I reduce the 'warm end' temps down to the mid 80's F.

I'll try feeding them tonight and let you know how I get on...

Cheers,
Mark.
