Ok decided to go and buy the following

canon eos 40d with the 17-85mm IS lens
canon 580exII flashgun

still getting use to the cam but took some shots of the doggy, very close to having pups! and of some daffodils (using my 60mm f2.8 macro) for a wall picture in my kitchen

they have been resized twice so may have lost some quality but you get the picture (ha)

Laughing ..I like the first 2 pics of the dog, very nice and sharp as for the flowers they llook underexposed and slightly soft to me...I would have used a smaller aperture than f3.2 on these.

cool good stuff, i will be editing them anyways in photoshop to get them looking there best. I had the camera set to Apperture priority i believe. f2.8 would have looked a bit crisper probably.

thanks for your comments Very Happy

A smaller aperture is a larger f number mate..2.8 would not have made them sharper it would mean even more of the flowers would be out of focus due to narrow depth of field....I would try maybe f8 to start and see how you go..
