I am looking to get into some other sort of exotic in the next couple of years. Something that can free-roam, and won't eat my cavalier king charles spaniel, and that I can stroke and otherwise interact with. But I don't know what. I've considered hedgehogs, skunks, and armadillos but get such conflicting reports as to their suitability. Anyone got any suggestions?

armadillos because they are groovy! and everyone loves them.
skunks are nice, but if you tell people you have a skunk, they might not want to come and see it because they 'smell', i know they don't smell all the time, but that is what alot of people think lol _________________ Tom

yeah guys its illegal to decent skunks as act of 2007 as we have 3 in our shop their our pets. the new law has only just come recent so we were just in time. we only know this because we had some people telling us we are breaking the law but we arent because the skunks were decented along time ago. as having a pet to interact with i wouldnt go for skunks as they do smell and can be very messy as with temperment we are trying to calm them down but they still seem to have old habbits and i have been bitten once got a chunk missin out my index finger _________________ Leopard Geckos

Do you want to keep an animal that will free roam around your house all the time or for a few hours a day. Would you consider keeping something that is kept outdoors for part or all of the time? How many hours a day would you be around for it and what time of day/night? Answering these questions might help with working out which animal would fit into your lifestyle. _________________ Cheers Angi

Ideally one that freeroams the majority of the day, or a good few hours. I find caged animals more of hassle to look after, whereas looking after my dog doesn't feel like work because he's more a big part of everyday life, if that makes sense.
Outside is a no-no, unfortunately, circumstances-wise.
I only work part-time, so I'm only away a few hours each day, if that.
I am more of a day-time person than a night-time person, so nocturnal wouldn't be ideal.
I've been looking at fennec foxes, they're so beautiful, and apparently can be lead trained so I could take it out with my pup, but they're damn near impossible to get in this country. |

Thats helped eliminate quite a few then. I think a skunk would be a good choice. Have you thought of an exotic cat such as a Bengal? _________________ Cheers Angi
