The 'new ' female I picked up on Wednesday , well she had shed yesterday , complete as well , brill . So I offered her a large rat , SLAM Exclamation 6.4 on the Richter scale Laughing

had her less than four days and she's eating . yippeeeeeeeeeeee Exclamation

Very tempted to try putting the male Pastel in with her ( as she has just shed ) later on today . Will sleep on it ( just finished N/S )

Any thoughts on this from you peeps Question , it being so soon after getting her . She's 1.99 kg , so weight is cool .

The absolute best time to do it mate, fed, shed and more importantly she has changed environment. She should breed for sure if your male is ready. All my imported females were bred the day I got them. ALL mated that week and fed at the weekend. Definitely put them together if they are both in good condition. Good luck with them.

very tempting. depends how strict you want to quarantine them.

There's still plenty of breeding season left to wait a month or so, just to air that little bit of caution.. i'd probably attempt her this season, just a little later on Smile

If she's from a decent caring breeder there should be little need to quarantine her. If you do then it needs to be in a completely separate room and you need to run stools samples etc. otherwise there is little point in doing so. If I know the breeder and his ethics I don't quarantine mine.

Fair enough.

I've no idea who gave the snake to Pete. You can still quarantine snakes living in the same room, it's just not as strictly managed, that's all. Smile

No, I completely agree with you. In an ideal world ALL new snakes should be quarantined for sure and without doubt its the best way. But I would always put them in a separate room, just not worth the risk and if they have any ticks or mites missed then being near other animals can be a nightmare but I agree, quarantine is best. I would doubt though that many do it when buying CB animals for CB parents and from a good breeder. I would either quarantine or stick them together straight away. Depends how you feel about the breeder she's off and the condition of both her and the male. Which ever you decide good luck and let us know how things go.

I trust the seller implicitly , also the two of them have already been quarantined before I picked then up ! win win situation for me Laughing

I , like royal python , use a separate room , deff not worth the risk with putting any new unknown snake in same room as your costly morphs . This female is in great condition ,time , like Paul said , is ideal .

So Pastel has a huge smile on his mug now . He's in with her now .
