Well here we are after a long and very eventful trip to Hamm.

Having experienced this weekend I though it wise to point out the potential pitfalls which our small group had.

Answering an add on the Classified section 16 happy herpers arranged a trip in a minibus organized by a fellow herper.

Arriving at the guys home on of our party became convinced that the minibus would not make it to Germany .......and it never!!! so be were stuck in Kent.

The RAC offered to take the Minibus and half the passengers home, but no joy for the rest

There was no back up plan and the organizer had no Drivers License as it was "in the post" so no way of getting a replacement hire vehicle.

Making phone calls to try and get a replacement it also became clear that had we gone on his minibus trip we would not have been covered by any insurances as he had already admitted it was a money making venture and for that reason covered under commercial PSV legislation.

With a number of our fellow herpers having already paid deposits for high end critters this looked like a disaster.

In the end we hired a professional company to drive us there and back in a real nice mini coach!! (luckily I had my good credit card with me)

The cost was slightly more than our original budget but everyone (except the original organizer) got safely to Hamm and back home.

Yes French customs (bstd's) were waiting for ALL Brits coming back from Hamm and they were busy giving some fellow brits some 'poo' in a car in front of us at Euro-tunnel but questioned us briefly and then they gave up on us.

The moral (and reason) for this story is be very careful when arranging transport to Hamm..

If someone is charging to make a profit make sure all is above board and you are insured......it could have ended in a real 'poo' load of trouble.

Thanks to all you guys and girls on the Streamline Executive Coach which returned to Doncaster at 6am Sunday morning.

Keep in touch.

For those wondering about the Title ........Granite Burmese escapes on Coach would give it a better title Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed
