got a 1300g female royal who in the past ive offered rats and wont touch them. as soon as she see's a mouse she goes mad on it! (she went off feed for 3 months and now is going mental)
i got a small rat, a lot bigger than what shes on now (xtralg mice) (rats body about 8inchs), and put it in a bag of soiled mouse bedding for 6 hours on top of my beardies viv.. (benefit of having 1.1 mice! ) and yes it did stink
took the rat out, washed the sawdust off with warm water.
opened her tub and BANG she took it straight away, swallowed it down and has a nice chunky belly.
bit of a pain to do, but it saves buying 3xtralarge mice at a time!
might be worth a try to anyone who has royals who wont eat rats |

Wish I had mice bedding My female is like yours you can offer her a rat and she won’t take it and then offer a mouse a second after the rat and she’s straight on it.
She went of food for 9months and still won’t touch rats. |

nice one Dave..
wee thought for others ...you can ( usually ) get used bedding from your local pet shop ...they just throw it out anyway so you save them the hassle ...just enquire as to when they change the bedding . _________________ 3.7.0 Royals
