hi guys i recently picked up a trio of rats and came back today to find a half dead female which i swiftly put out of her misery humanely .i was a bit concerned about it as she had a rake of bites on her and the male rat was running around like a loon.
i watched them for a while from afar and he started to attack the other female the same ..

whats going on here ? im new to rodents i dont want them suffering
and i certainly dont want him bullying the female like this .

any advice guys

Perhaps the male felt trapped and under some sort of threat?

I used to breed them for my snakes but have never witnessed this type of behavior between the male and female I had.

It helps if there are lots of things for them to do, like tunnels ropes climbing equipment, that sort of thing!

Thanks Paul i have got loads of pipes and stuff in there i may move them into a bigger cage later to see if he chills out .hes a bit skitish ..

i got them locally from a pet shop trio for £12 .. hes going to end up getting the chop if he carries on i cant find any adult males around here at the minute though .. Rolling Eyes
