Yeah my chams get through loadsa crix, locusts etc. Certainly more than 12 per week. Sally I think it may have been locusts 8 for £4 quid at the shop, I agree with N on that, apologies if I am wrong. If they are charging £4 squidlets for 8 crix's then they are into huge profit. IMHO I still think even £4 of lager vouchers for 8 locusts is outrageous but then again I'm a tight wad! keep us up to date on your progress and what you eventually get, good luck.

always amazes me, as 100 large from livefoods is £14.39...
so 1 locust is 14p...
how do they justify SUCH a mark up!

At 75p a knock I WOULD HAVE LOST LOTS OF MONEY THIS AM, SEE FEEDER FORUM FOR WHY. sORRY ABOUT CAPS TOO LAZY TO ALTER IT. Thats better. I asked Steve at Livefood's how they count up the crickets for the bulk bags etc. Bet you can't guess how.

I doubt they count each tub (no way possible) most count out ONCE, put that in a 'scoop' (cup or tub) mark the height they reach, then scoop that amount into each tub / bag.
£0.14 is a fair retail price for a 5th instar locust, they certainly are a lot more expensive to produce than crickets. _________________

Yep, It is the cheapest I have seen them (without breeding them )
Trouble is they eat so damn much!
What do you feed yours Scott?
Where do you get it from (go to your local park with a lawn mower? ) |

yeah I agree good value. He told me they use pint glasses filled to diff levels for diff size crix. We use a Pint glass to measure out the crickets 1 pint of standard sized crickets = 1 bulk bag
3/4 pint of 4th instar = 1 bulk bag etc.
Good prices on that site for insects I think it may be one of the best I have seen and apparently they deal with 1500 orders per week.
I have found keeping locusts quite expensive especially with the ammount of veg they eat, how do they get through so much I am forever filling ice cream tubs up with meticulously prepared varieties of veg, they eat more healthily than I do!
Scott any response to my experiement suggestion on the egg laying depth thread?

lol....I would put ALL my yemens down your chimney if you were to fill your entier house with potting compost!
I will try and do a 'proper' experiment with the depth with my next gravid female. Not too sure how deep I can go, at least the height of a dustbin to start with. _________________
