They are, can keep them a lot like guinea pigs,rabbits etc indoors in a large enough cage, only thing is you will need a heat mat to ensure the temp doesn't drop too low for them or they will start to hibernate.

I kept mine in c&c cages - like this: www.guineapigcages.com ... they do have very similar space requirements to guinea pigs.

Still have all of the bits for the cages Lynne if you're tempted to get one, or two, or three ... Laughing
