Can't actually remember .
As for if it's possible, well the people behind the idea are extremely well known breeders, so if it is possible I'm sure they will do it.
They already have a couple of 'creations' that are well known. _________________

nice....
the only way i see it being possible would be to breed the very few egg laying boas to a kenyon sand boa that would be the one i would think would be at all possibleas the saharan sand boas eggs hatch in around 5 days and oviously the kenyon sand boas are live barers
i could see that one happerning

The retic/conda cross has been tempting people for as long as i have looked at retics. To date it hasn't been possible although i know of 1 company/shop/breeder that has seen mating previously and 1 private breeder who claimed he had infertile eggs.
The obvious genetic mechanic who likes to play in this area is Kevyn McCurley but i have a feeling it is going to be too much for even his weird knack with snakes.
The problem is that as live bearers still have eggs, albeit a different kind. So there is the possibility of suffocating snakes which develop with out egg teeth in the egg or the eggs could be laid but not be amniotic and need a body/fluid in which to develop. These are just 2 of the million and one problems that are likely to occur _________________ TFA

I would've thought they'd try with a male anaconda and a female retic...less birthing complications that way? |

ack!!! hybrids....
Are there not enough variants/morphs to mix and match with, that they need to start hybridizing species???
Why would anybody ever hybridize a royal python with an Angolan python??? or Burmese Python, or Blood Python....
It just doesn't make sense to me why anybody would contaminate the captive gene pool of different species... I guess ultimately, it comes down to greed.... $$$$$$
As for that burm and royal breeding, my honest guess would be that there are too many prezygotic isolating mechanisms involved, and would most likely not result in any offspring. |
