I decided recently to change our garden into a little wildlife haven and not cut the grass, let the weeds and wildflowers grow so I could entice more wildlife such as Goldfinches, various insects etc (partially for me to practice my photography on). Well we had a lovely surprise tonight and discovered my ploy worked even better than I had ever imagined. We pulled our rabbit hutch out to clean behind it and discovered a pair of slow worms, hopefully they will be there tomorrow in daylight so I can get some decent shots of them. I have supplied them with a little more protection from out cats too by blocking the cats access to the area where we found them. if I do discover that they have ventured into a more risky area of our garden where the cats will most likely catch them, then I will seek advice on where would be best to relocate them to locally in order to protect them.
I did need to disturb them briefly to move the rabbit dung, but replaced the damp hay and straw that was there. So I did try to leave the area pretty much the same as we found it.
Here's the photos I grabbed whilst my daughter was finishing off her rabbits hutch. They were only out for around 15 minutes and incredibly friendly. They're not that good as I didn't want to stress them plus it was dark rapidly, so I did rush taking them.

This is a first for me, I have only seen a couple previously - one was where we had to rescue some guy hiding in his house terrified of a big snake in his frony garden ( bless him, he wouldn't even open his door and would only communicate through his letterbox). We imagined finding a decent sized adder not a 5 inch slow worm lmao. _________________ Cheers Angi
