That is one of the worst pictures i have ever seen of a malnourished/dehydrated snake on any forum .i hope you get it sorted fast .i would be considering assist feeding that tonight and if that does not work try a live weaner rat as already said

good luck

POSTED ON BEHALF OF CASEY AS SHE CANNOT LOG IN:

I have seen this once before at a rescue centre i used to help out in, a wild caught female who had been in captivity 14 months and not eaten a thing, we were unsure obviously as to how long she had not eaten whilst in Africa. I very seriously doubt this snake would have the strength to kill a live prey item.

My advice for what its worth is to either pass the snake onto someone who has the time, patience and very good vet on hand to get it right or take it to your own vet immediately.

Casey.

MY THOUGHTS:
Well i can't see a royal in that condition managing live prey or barely whole prey tbh it looks so very very far gone, i'm also not saying anyones lying but i just cannot comprehend an animal going from okay to that in three days?

Also, the 2nd pic i think there's another royal in the background 1)housing together may add to stress so i'd split them but 2)my biggest concern here, what are those white patches on the background royal? look like scars from live feeding or burns maybe?

Rachel.

4 days later. . . . .

Any more news on this snake, has it seen a vet yet?

I had one not feed on me for 7 months and he looked nothing like that, lost very little weight.

If thats only 4 months of non feeding could there be another explanation?

Let us now how your getting on.

D.

the thought of feeding live and being weak did cross my mind... clearly not a good situation.. i believe Rachel and casey to be good advisors.

I thought the pics of the skinny snake, was the same snake in the water bowl???????????? wrong??????? and i believed she'd at one point been of some sort of size at some point, but obviously there's not an exact scale i can judge that on.. because it's not clear which snake is which (i think), and we still have not been provided with mass, age and lengths, i certainly cant judge on this.

The 2nd pic shows only one snake. She is housed singley in a rack.

When those pics were taken she was alert and it was not her whole body that appeared to be sucked in.

Last night she was very alert and was visually in good condition.

From above, she does not appear at all malnourished or ill at all.

Her weight when i got her was 924g in March, in April she was 912g, on 19th May she was 896g, on 3rd June she was 800g.

Obviously a drop of 96g in 2 weeks and a day is dramatic IMO.
I wouldn't class a drop of 28g in 2 months as dramatic.

Going by the photo, I'd say the snake is bordering on being too weak to actually be able to cope with any solid food, certainly anything of appropriate size for the animal.

I would be very tempted on trying to force feed a small prey item but perhaps first offer a couple of live items. Either way I would want food inside it within the next 7 days or things may well go too far for it.

She was offered a small adult mouse last night and struck at it twice but did not attempt to keep hold of it.

She doesn't seem physically weak, she maintains a solid grip on my arm.

I mean internally weak, her stomach may not be able to cope with the stress of digesting a large food item and could cause regurgitation which is something that snake can not afford to do.
