I finally got my new geckos home yesterday.

Ive spent all day cleaning all the bits and putting it together.

Ive never set up a crested gecko environment before.

What do you guys think?

Any comments or suggestions would be good...

Nice set up, how come you removed the back board from the viv (you know, the one thats made to look like a rock wall)?

Just wondering if it was any special reason or you just didn't like it?

Lokks real nice and plenty to hide in. great job! Wink

Looks good mate Cool

Even tho I hate them with a pasion I would put the background back purely for the gecko to feel a little more secure Wink

I'm not keen on the backing.

I was thinking of getting something like what you put behind a fish tank because as you say it might make the gecko feel safer.

Do you think that would be an OK alternative?

Cork tiles can look nice, especially if you can get hold of some dark gnarled looking ones

It'll help darken the tank a little, i'm sure it'll feel a lot more secure with at least a picture background, you can get some very good ones lately specially designed for reptile enclosures. Can't give you any websites for it as i've only seen it in herp shops!

looking good, I'm no fan of the backing either, baby geckos get trapped behind, mid size hide along the top.

All I'd do is add LOADS more plants, weeping figs all the way Laughing

I always go with the aquarium backing, too many things squeeze in behind the polystyrene backing they give you.

I'm not a fan at all of the backing either. Looks horrible as a background for decent photos, I've had crickets hide behind it them for ages chewing away at the polystyrene too. Much better off with a well fitted natural looking background imo
