Hi all, I just wanted a little info on my Spectre:
I have read all the info I can on these great phasmids but still seem to be struggling a little. She seems to be slowing down, not moving very much and only feeding and drinking if I hand feed her. At first I thought she might be coming up to molting but this has been going on now for about 4 days.
I was wondering how people kept theirs. I feed mine on bramble (which has been washed), and the odd rose leaf as I've read that they will also eat these. She is kept at around room temp and has plenty of food available at all times.
She is around the 2nd instar age is about 3cm total length. So can anyone give me any advice ?

I used to keep these wonderful sticks. Are you spraying her daily? Another thought I had was the rose leaves-have you insured they haven't been treated with pesticides at all? Most plants like roses are.
I fed mine on bramble, rosehip leaves, rodedendron and eucalyptus, They LOVE euc, so it might be worth getting hold of a shrub. A bit of variety in their diets is a good thing.
Otherwise, you might be right about an impending shed. Good luck with her, they are amazing when they hit full maurity. I ended up with about 100 after some success in breeding them!

Well finally she has molted! She had a little troble with the molt and now her front right leg is deformed!
I had been spraying daily, I know she had a long trip in a very dry contaier so perhaps this had something to do with it.
Shes eating well and have fed her the usual bramble but also rose and oak leaves.
I have around 100 eggs from the states that i'm currently incubating, they are about 3 months along now.
I can't wait to see her in her adult form, as I know they are very impressive in size and weight!
I have moved her to a smaller container so its easier to find food, but she is still not as nimble as when she first turned up!

I currently have about 30 nymphs of varying stages at the moment, with more hatching each week.
Changing the Brambles and cleaning out has become a job for the whole family and provides much amusement.

No probs, I kinda miss keeping these little guys...My first lady used to drink from the dog's water bowl! I'll post a pic if I still have it!
Don't forget you need to spray the eggs every few days and not let them get too wet/dry. Also make sure you change their tray lining (or whatever you use) to prevent it getting mouldy. Mine started hatching once the weather warmed up.

becomes a slog eventually when you have 500+ of the little buggers all throwing themselves out of the tank and running up all the walls and all over the place within seconds.

I am finding that out  , I managed to off load some to a local Reptile store, I will visiting a few more soon. I have advertised them in the classifieds too. But so far no takers. It's a shame, these are cracking creatures. Mind you, I still have no males, so I can only guess that my male didn't succeed in his lfe task.

the males are suprisingly hard to come by for some reason.. seems to be around 1 in 20/30 is a male from all I have had.
I would try ebay as well mate 10 for a fiver or something, they do tend to sell well |

well she is about to shed again, but shes fallen off the branch she was clinging too. She has not shed yet and am worried that she'll have probs now shes not hanging upside down. Any help would would be grate.

ive actually been reading that females fed on bramble solely will turn out to be weaker and duller. apparently eucalyptus is the way to go.
