Reptiles can't see red light, period. According to the scientists anyway...

What you have is more likely to be your crestie sensing a change in the heat, and also a subtle change in the lighting, surely even a red glass bulb doesnt give out 100% pure red light...

Also bare in mind that while it probably doesnt bother them, naturally they are used to the temperature dropping at night rather than staying similar to daytime. Thats why I dont heat any of my geckos at night.

right heres a low down on the day-night temp changes.
dayglow light comes on at 9 and goes off at 9 the average temp of the light is 76f
at 9pm the light turns off and the tank cools down to about 63 where the night 1 comes on, with a dimmer set to 64 so it stays around that temp.

a few things iv noticed;
he defo doesnt notice the red light because his pupils are still huge, but he seems to be more active when i have the tv or computer monitor on =S the tv is about 3 feet above his tank and monitor is on on the other side bout 6ft away,

also even stranger thing i noticed;
his sleeping patterns are wierd, he dont move all day which is expected but at night he will come out about 10pm'ish and be fairly active but then he will dissappear into the hole network in his log untill about 2-3 when he will be going mental jumping and climbing on everything unitll about 8 when he will gob ack to sleep lol
also he enjoys playing with his food, the past 2 nights he caught and ate 2 locus but with the 3rd he will catch it, let it go abit then catch it again do this a few times then eat it lol,

This all sounds like normal behaviour and nothing to worry about.

The point I was trying to make is that you will not naturally get a localised source of heat at night. But it doesn't really matter as long he's eating which he is.
