Hi guys, I recently bought myself a pictus gecko and got a few questions I hope some of you can answer.
Well I've had him for a couple of weeks and til now everything has worked just fine. He had a molt going on a few days ago, but it seems he didn't manage to get of everything on the back feet. Should I just increase the humidity level, or let it be until the next molt?
how many CM of coco-bedding should I use? have about 8cm now, is that enough?
(don't know inches :p )
and if you guys have any useful info at all, dont keep it to youreself
(sorry if there's any bad spelling, it's not my language you know :p )

Hi there wel I cant help too much as I aint got any pictus geckos at the moment but I know a few on here that do.
As for the shed (molt) If he has it stuck to his feet you need to try and get that off. there are a few ways , you could put him in a tub with a piece of wet cloth or coco-bedding and leave him in there for a while and then use a cotton bud to ease it off his toes.
If you leave it to the next shed it may build up and cut off any circulation to the toe and end up him losing his toe.
hope I helped but as I said I dont keep them!

Thanks for a quick answer SmallPaul, I'll do just that.
Don't want him to get any damage on he's feet or anything..
My dad just bought me a 60x45x60 exo-terra (measure in CM), so Im thinking of transferring him to that one when I've finished decorating it. Do you think I can get him a Lady friend or two and put in there, or will it be too small? |

Just wanted to notify that everything went well with the gecko, and he got of all the old skin, and the day after he had another shed, and this time he managed it all by himself.
But I'm still wondering if 60 length x 45 depth x 60 height (measures in CM) is too small for me to get another pictus and put in with him? should I rather by a bigger terrarium?
thanks |

That is about 24in X 18in X 24in.
That size will be OK for 1.2 pictus with no problems at all. If the gecko is not shedding properly then the humid hide needs to be more humid
The eco-earth needs to be damp enough feel like freshly dug earth, I would suggest a plastic container with the side/top blacked out with tape and a entrance cut into the side at one end. I would give this hide a good misting every other day and once a week run your fingers through it and add warm water if needed.
Picture below is of leopard geckos (with the hide about to be sprayed) but the humid hide is the same as you want but on a smaller scale.

Finaly someone answered! Thanks serpent!
seems I need to learn about inches
I'll get right on with making a proper humid hide like that!
I've been wondering.. Isn't the Paroedura Pitcus that common in the hobby? I mean, since there's so few threads about them?

Pictus seem to have phases, they come, they go. One year there will be hundreds about and then nothing for a few years then then hundreds again.
The phases at the moment seem to be royal pythons with people buying/selling royals with patterns that a few years ago would have warrented an extra £20 are now being sold for £000's
Cornsnakes with a slightly different hue of a colour are being renamed as something special and bumping the price up to double what they should be.
Leopard geckos seem to be having a good few years at the moment, they are being inbred so much just to see what new and wonderful wishy washy pattern and colour will hatch out. _________________ People laugh at me because I am different
