Hey all. Me and Shrew went over to the UK last week to collect some reptiles and I decided to treat myself to a couple of spiderlings and thought I'd post a copule of pics
I got myself a Pterinochilus murinus and a Acanthoscurria geniculata
The pics aren't great as they are sooooooo tiny but hopefully will get some better ones soon!
My P. murinus is really agro already even thou he is only 'ikkle! Gonna be fun! _________________ Soraya

nice couple of spids there, are they your fist spiders? If so why not keep all there sheddings so you can build up a size profile and see how much they have grown between sheddings! _________________ Beardies are the way!

Hey Paulk, nope not my firsts - I've kept a few other in the past chile rose, zebra knee and colbolt blue. I'll probably keep their sheds, its kinda a nice way to see their progression. Its my first time keeping a baboon and I've heard their a bit agro. Anyone else keep them? _________________ Soraya

p.murinus is a definite no-no to try handling or playing with, also care is needed when moving containers, they are one seriously nasty piece of work, with a complimentary nasty bite too.i kept the orange coloured variety of pterinochilus, which was then known as the usumbara orange, tho the taxonomists have probably changed the name a dozen times or more since then in their efforts to stake a claim to fame.,the murinus is an equally nasty bit of work. _________________ we all have the spark of divinity within us, but are we responsible enough to use it? |

Yeah that was my understanding on the Pterinochilus murinus, I have no intention of ever handling him and although they have a bit of a reputation in the world of tarantulas, I do like a challenge!
Have heard a few nasty bite stories, so will certainly give this little guy the respect he deserves! _________________ Soraya

Yer they can be a bit frisky, I have 38 different Trantulas and in that collection I have 6 different Baboons. And even I get a little nervous if I have to put my hand in the tank!
But they are great creatures and I love em just as much as the rest of my collection! _________________ Beardies are the way!

one i did think was given real bad press was the king baboon however, i had two and neither were all THAT bad,at least they gave notice of their intentions.on the other hand i had a b.vagans which you could never get near,it was psychotic. _________________ we all have the spark of divinity within us, but are we responsible enough to use it? |

Very nice spiderlings! I used to keep chile rose and curly hairs years ago...it reminds me of those days. I might try and get another one day (but I'd have to persuade the mrs....she's not keen on spiders or snakes...anything else is fine) Good luck raising the little chaps...make sure to post more pics too |
