Whats the best way to go about dieting over weight monitors? i have a trio of auffenbergi 1.1.1. iv'e noticed that they are looking a little fat lately and have put them on a diet. i have cut down feeding hopper mice once per week insects every other day. i am pretty sure none are gravid (even the male looks a little fat) they are approx 14 months old. any advice appreciated.

normally you should feed insects like roaches and hoppers 4 times a week and mices and rats only once a month. i only feed more mices before and after breeding. regards martin

as i wrote 4 days a week maximum . the problem is, as i had it with my auffenbergis, that most of the day they donīt move very much and so they are getting faster fat then acanthurus ore gilleni for example. and please donīt feed them so much meat. only once a month maximum . exapt of course as i wrote in breeding seasons. and feed them "good" insects like roaches and grasshoppers. not any worms or so. regards martin

Thanks again Martin. your right about them not being as active as Ackies. mine spend most of time up high basking or in hides, only going down to floor level to drink & defecate.
