I sneaked a question to Scott on PM so I wouldn't look daft but as he advised I've posted it for everyone else Laughing

Sorry to ask a daft question I have a pair of cresties now, females eating well, calcuim sacs bulging, should I just put them in together and leave them to it or is there a better way to introduce them? I don't want to stress either so I thought I'd ask

Didn't I get a nice reply Very Happy

Not a daft question at all (infact a good one that you should of posted on the forum for others to learn from Wink Laughing )
I always rear animals together, that way they learn together and are able to re-act appropriately to each others actions (this is vital in some species). They are also free to breed when they are mature enough, not when I think they are (or the books tell me they are Laughing ).

With regards to introducing just a pair, I would go for the 'neutral' ground approach. That is choose a viv (can be either of theirs), empty the cage, clean it and set it up different to previous and then put both in at the same time. It always helps to ensure that there is plenty of visual barriers that they can use to break up any tension that a new pairing can produce.

Thanks again Scott ur a darlin xxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm not sure if it matters that much with Cresties just keep an eye on them for a day or two,I'm sure they will get on fine. With other reps I've kept I've always introduced males to a females cage if I want them to breed Wink .

Introduced them yesterday and it went really well, some after dark squeaking going on, he's bred before but she's a newbie and not too impressed so far but I checked this morning and both are fine and someone's been pigging out Very Happy so their appetites seem ok too Laughing Lets hope she gets the idea soon so I can get all excited over some eggs of my own xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
