I thought the only way to sex a Savanah Monitor was by Ultrasound? Perhaps I am wrong but thats what I have always been led to believe. Interesting to know it is possible to sex them just by looking at them... |

ive also read of surgical methods. guess my only way to find out would be to ask the vet  |

Sure, of course a vet can sex a monitor surgically (laparoscopy to see if it has testes or ovaries), but do you really want to poke a hole in your monitor if it isn't necessary?
They can also be sexed, as adults, by X-ray, as males usually develope ossifications on the tips of their hemipenes. However, by the time they are old enough to be able to do that reliably, you can sex them by looking at them so again it's quite unnecessary. |
