Hey all,
I've just been drawing down some designs of an enclosure that I will be building sometime in the future. It will contain a diurnal species (probably rankins), made of 2 enclosures.
The lower enclosure will contain the spot light and UV strip light, for the adult diurnal species, and the top will be a smaller (less tall) area for incubation and hatchling tubs, for various species, possibly containing a heatmat for extra heat.
The 'problem' I have is how to neatly get the fittings for the spot light and UV strip light inside the enclosure. I hope you know what I mean. For the spot bulb fitting I could probably use a drill bit the same diameter as the wire, drill a hole into the conti, unwire the bulb fitting, mount it in the enclosure, pass the wire through the hole and rewire. As for the UV sockets though, how can I get around this? (i.e not having to drill 1-2" holes in the back to pass them through)
The heatmat for the upper enclosure will not be a problem, a thin gap can easily be cut to slide the heatmat in. (like in Scotts rack system)
I know a lot of you have experience in viv building, hopefully you can enlighten me
Thanks _________________ Steve P |

cut a small groove in the edges of the back panel and when putting viv together place the wires in place! _________________ 1.0 striped supersalmon DEAD

Ahh never though of putting the wires in when assemlbling, it's a good thought but I have another idea.
Maybe I could create some sort of detatchable panel with grooves in, as a less permanent wiring option, if I ever needed to change my setup etc. Some sort of sturdy mesh could work, would also act as a vent hmmm
Code: |
----------
| |
| c -> o| |
| c -> o| |
| c -> o| |
| |
----------
|
c = groove
o = wire
| | = conti board
thing on the left = mesh panel
lol wtf is that hahah
