i got 4 black spined toads yesterday morning and decided to see if i could interest them in food, they were sat in a group under a plant so i dropped a cricket in to see how it went, only seconds after there was a crunch so i tried again another crunch, as things were going well i dropped a few in only enough for 2-3 each and thought id leave them to eat, got up this morn an a couple o crickets were just wondering about, so am wondering why they werent large crickets so I'm sure there wasn't to many do the toads need more time to adjust or am i doing something stupid. |

You could try a smaller size cricket but if thye have eaten some , then thats good, maybe they had eaten enough. overtime you will be able to gauge how much they need to eat and how frequently to feed them.
Are they adult toads, or do you how old they are? Captive bred or wild caught or captive farmed?
They are quite a big toad when adult 3-4 inches. Young ones can be fed on small mealworms, small earthworms, small crickets, small locusts etc. The adults much of the same but larger. Adults dont need to eat every day maybe every two to three days. Waxworms now and then go down well.
Would be great to see some pics of them. Good luck. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk
